Virtue | Young Women's Values | Logan, UT

I will prepare to enter the Temple

and remain pure and worthy

my thoughts and actions will be

based on high moral standards

"Who can find a virtuous woman?

for her price is far above rubies."

-Proverbs 31:10

What is virtue?  "It is the strength and power of young women, it is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards.  It includes chastity and purity."

Young women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints are taught to remain virtuous so that they may be sealed in the temple to their chosen companion for eternity.  It is a goal that is extremely admirable and important to obtain eternal happiness.

Ada completed her Personal Progress and she wrote about the Young Women's Value virtue in such a beautiful way. "To be virtuous is to be worthy to go to the temple.  I enjoy going to the Temple once a month with my Beehive class, and I want to remain worthy to go for the rest of my life. For my project, I read the Book of Mormon. I gained a testimony of the gospel.  Many times Satan's influence makes me think twice before I tell myself that I believe in what I am being taught.  After reading the Book of Mormon, I can know for a fact that these things are true.   The Book of Mormon taught me that faith leads to happiness, and that our hard times are meant to test us and help us remember our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  By reading the Book of Mormon, I have learned that the gospel is true and that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me and know me.  I know that I can return to them someday as long as I remember what I've been taught through personal progress."

This is our last segment of our Young Women's Personal Progress sessions.  I am sad that I won't be focusing as much time on them.  When we began I thought that we would just shoot a couple of the values in one day and make one simple blog post.  I quickly learned that each value deserved it's own post because they are so important.  I am grateful that Ada took the time out of her busy schedule to model for these sessions.  She has finished her personal progress and is starting on her Honor Bee.  I am so proud of her and for her example.  As a young woman many, many years ago. I strayed away from these values and did not focus on them the way that I should have. I am so happy that I got the opportunity to work on this project so that I could learn the meaning and importance of each one.  I am thankful to Ada and her mom for helping me put these sessions together.  It truly is their talent and time that made this happen.  I also want to thank Gown Town for donating this dress for our last value session.  We had a difficult time finding a virtuous gold dress and she had one!

When researching a location for this session we decided on the Logan Temple.  Alison said "What could be more virtuous than the Temple?!"  So that is where we decided to go.  It was gorgeous!  It had rained quite a bit that week which only made the fall colors of gold, green, and red at the Temple even more vibrant.  I am really glad that we decided to re-shoot this session.  I couldn't be more happier with the way it turned out.
