Jerzee's Great to be Eight Session | Logan Temple | Logan Utah Children's Photography
"Jesus called them unto him, and said, suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." Luke 18:16
This girl! I love her and she is growing so fast. It seems like yesterday when I moved into her neighborhood and she ran right up to my door and wanted to play. That was four years ago. As the years have passed our families have moved into new neighborhoods and we don't get to see each other as often as everyday like before but thankfully I still get to take her pictures and I get to see her and her family a couple times a year. I have enjoyed watching this beauty grow. I was blown away last fall when she told me my camera was a Canon and that she has stuff with that same name on it in her classroom! I am flabbergasted at how time flies and how quickly these little ones learn.
Jerzee is now eight years old and has reached the age of accountability. She has made the decision to be baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And she is super excited! Her father will baptize her with the authority of the priesthood, then afterwards she will receive a confirmation and the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Each year thousands of LDS children reach the age of accountability and are baptized. This time in a child's life is exciting, fascinating, and unforgettable. At this age they are aware of the choices they make and know the difference between right and wrong. Have you ever noticed children sporting a little green ring with the emblem C.T.R.? It is a reminder for them to "Choose the Right". As a member of the LDS church myself, we believe that at the age of eight children are learning new things and some of those are good while others are not so good. They seek, explore, choose, and remember; therefore making baptism a very meaningful choice at this time in their lives. We believe that baptism is the first covenant or promise that we make with our loving Heavenly Father. LDS children prepare for their baptism with their parents for a time before the beautiful event and have a meeting with their bishop to make sure they are ready and understand their choice to do so.
I am so proud of Jerzee and her decision. On the day of her photo session we went to the Logan Temple to take a few shots. She smiled, giggled, and ran up and down the hillside. She carried around her family's scriptures and read a few verses from them. She twirled in her dress and happiness just emanated from her. Jerzee is one of my favorite people and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to do her photo session for the momentous occasion. She is such a sweet spirit.
