I have inherited divine qualities which I will strive to develop
"Be partakers of the divine nature...Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue:
And to virtue knowledge: And to knowledge temperance; And to temperance patience;
And to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness;
And to brotherly kindness charity."
2 Peter 1:4-7
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said "Be strong and of good courage you are truly royal spirit daughters of Almighty God. You are princesses destined to become queens. Your own wondrous story has already begun. Your once upon a time is now."
I think this is one of my most favorite values that the Church of Jesus Christ teaches it's young women. This one value - Divine Nature introduces women to who they are, where they are from, and what they can achieve.
Ada and her mother Alison met me at Bear Lake the day we took these photos and they surely showed qualities of their divine nature while waiting for me to arrive. It took me quite awhile to get up the canyon and they waited very patiently. When I met them at the entrance the sun had almost gone down, but we were very blessed to catch some light to finish this session.
After we had started these sessions I had asked Ada to send me some of her thoughts about completing her Personal Progress and the Young Women's Values. Here is what she had to say about Divine Nature: "Working on the experiences for Divine Nature section have inspired me to become a good mother. For my project, I created a quilt so that I could keep it and give it to my future children. In doing this I thought about how necessary it is for me to become a good mother. I have been given divine qualities which I need to develop so that I can be the best mother that I can be. My own mother has taught me and helped me grow, and I want the same for my son's and daughter's.
Ada truly looked like a princess for her session. As I was shooting this I had visions in my head of what Divine Nature means to me and how I could show that. All I could think about was Jesus walking on the water and his footprints in the sand. So hopefully you will see somewhat of a theme in these that would remind you of him through one of his beautiful, intelligent, charitable, and graceful daughters.
